New Year, New Rooms

Every new year, people start out with their laundry lists of goals and things they want to accomplish. I like to keep my list small and managable because I want these things to be accomplished. The more that is added, the more overwhelming and daunting the tasks and changes seem to appear.
One of my goals this year is to get rid of clutter. I am that person that holds onto things because they have memories, because I’m afraid that if I get rid of them a hole will exist. I know that isn’t the case and life will go on but it’s hard to shake. ~Insert anxiety here~
On top of getting rid of clutter, I want to make all of my rooms flow from one to another. My design concept in our home is neutrals, black and wood finishes. One of the rooms we have yet to redo is our dining room. I put together a post on LTK with the decor and style I am going with and I hope you like it just as much as I do.

First is this table that I adore. It’s simple and perfect for the style we are going with. Currently we have a dark brown legged table with an oak finish and I’d prefer it to be one color and one color only: black.

Farmhouse seating is a must so the low backs with the spindles is something I wanted ever since I decided to redo the furniture in the room. We have a bench at our current table now but it has no back which is something I always wished it had. I love mixing up the chairs and adding a bench in so it changes the look and gives it more character.

I found matching chairs for the bench. Or really what I should say is I found a bench to match my chairs. I love the low back and spindles and think it will be a great addition to the table. We’ll do four chairs plus the bench to create a table for six. I always buy more stools/chairs then I need in case we need extra seating or need to swap on out over time so I will be ordering six but only having four out at the table on a normal day.

Next up is the candle chandelier light. We had this light fixture installed last year and I have loved it ever since. It’s simple yet elegant enough to design many concepts around. I love the black metal and I think it gives the room the feel I was going for when I picked it out. I’ve recommended this light quite a few times since we had it installed.

I saw this faux plant when I was browsing through Target the other day and while I love it I am also a major fan of real plants throughout our home. I am going to start with this faux plant until I find the exact plant I’m looking for. I’m not sure how the light will be when we start to move everything around and I want to make sure the lighting we have is good for whatever plant option we choose!

Last is some artwork for the walls. We recently had a few photographs framed and we will be suing them in our dining room because they mean a lot to my husband. That being said, I did find this photo set from Target and I love the black and gold together. I think it would look perfect in the room because it ties in the neutral colors and simplicity that we’re going for.
You can check out these pieces and many more on my LTK which is linked below and in my profile!
